Junior Players Vie for Titles This Weekend at USA Judo National Youth and Scholastic National Championships

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) - More than 400 players will be competing this weekend at the USA Judo Youth and Scholastic National Championships in York, Pa.
Athletes ranging in age from 5 to 28-years-old will compete in junior and collegiate divisions at York's Expo Center Toyota, 334 Carlisle Ave.
Competition schedule is as follows:
Saturday March 28
Competition begins at 9 a.m. and continues until approximately 6 p.m.
The following divisions will be contested:
Juvenile B (Born 1993-1994)
Juvenile A (Born 1995-1996)
Intermediate 1 (Born 1999-2000)
Senior Collegiate
Sunday March 29
Competition begins at 9 a.m. and continues until approximately 4 p.m.
The following divisions will be contested:
IJF-Junior (Born 1990 or later)
Intermediate 2 (Born 1997-1998)
Bantam 3 (Born 2001)
Bantam 2 (Born 2002)
Bantam 1 (Born 2003)
Novice Collegiate
In addition to junior and collegiate divisions, the Cadet World Trials will be held on Saturday for athletes competing in the Juvenile B division with the winners of the Trials going on to fight at the Cadet World Championships, Aug. 6-9 in Budapest, Hungary.
The event also will include an exhibition team competition with a team of Puerto Rican All-Stars fighting against a U.S. All-Star Team that will be held Saturday afternoon at approximately 1 p.m.
Athletes competing this weekend include the following players:
- Mindy Chow (Honolulu, Hawaii / Hawaii Tenri), 2008 Senior U.S. Open silver medalist in the 52kg division
- Katelyn Bouyssou (Hope, R.I. / NYAC / Mayo Quanchi Judo Club), 2008 Senior U.S. Open silver medalist in the 48kg division
- Kyle Taketa (Torrance, Calif. / Gardena Judo), 2007 Senior Pan Am bronze medalist in the 55kg division
- Veronica Prado (Coral Springs, Fla. / USA Judo National Training Site at North Miami), three-time Senior Nationals silver medalist in the 44kg division
- Chrissy Chow (Honolulu, Hawaii / Hawaii Tenri), 2008 Junior World Team member and Senior Nationals bronze medalist in the 52kg division
- Angela Creutzberger (Ballston Lakes, N.Y. / USA Judo National Training Site at the Jason Morris Judo Center), 2008 Junior World Team member and Senior Nationals bronze medalist in the 48kg division
- Alexa Liddie (Colorado Springs, Colo. / USA Judo National Training Site at the Olympic Training Center), 2007 Senior Pan American Championships silver medalist in the 44kg division
- Helen Delpopolo (Westfield, N.J. / Cranford Judo), 2008 Junior World Team member and #2-ranked senior in the 70kg division
- Colin Robinson (Colorado Springs, Colo. / USA Judo National Training Site at the Olympic Training Center), 2008 Junior World Team member in the +100kg
- Laquinta Allen (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla. / Onikusu Judo Club), 2008 Pan Am Juvenile bronze medalist in the +70kg division
- Carly Patton (Zephyrhills, Fla. / El Mambi Judo), two-time Pan Am Infantile Champion in the 53kg division
- Tony Sangimino (Glenville, N.Y. / USA Judo National Training Site at the Jason Morris Judo Center), two-time Pan Am Juvenile silver medalist in the +90kg division
- Kadee Shadden (Mineral Wells, Texas / Ruben Martin Judo), 2008 Pan Am Juvenile Champion in the 70kg division
- Joshua Prado (Coral Springs, Fla. / USA Judo National Training Site at North Miami), 2008 Pan Am Juvenile bronze medalist in the 51kg division
- Steve Perez (Miami, Fla. / USA Judo National Training Site at North Miami), 2008 Pan Am Juvenile bronze medalist in the 55kg division
- Doyle Richeson (Burleson, Texas / Ruben Martin Judo), 2008 Pan Am Junior bronze medalist in the +100kg division
- Dane Pestano (Wiamando, Hawaii / Hawaii Tenri), 2006 Pan Am Infantile bronze medalist in the +53kg division
- Everet Desilets (Hope, R.I. / Mayo Qunachi Judo), 2006 Pan Am Infantile Champion in the won a gold medal in the 36kg division
- Ricondo Cole (Providence, R.I. / Mayo Quanchi Judo), 2006 Pan Am Infantile silver medalist in the 40kg division
