Rusty Kanokogi Memorial to be Held in January

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) - In response to the inquiries from the many international friends of 1988 Olympic Coach Rusty Kanokogi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who passed away on Nov. 21, USA Judo has learned that a memorial service will be held at Chelsea Pier in New York City in January. Further details of the memorial will be announced at a later date.
Kanokogi was cremated on Nov. 23 while wearing her judogi and belt. A ceremony was held for family only and her ashes will be brought to Japan by her husband Ryohei Kanokogi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to be interned in the Kanokogi cemetery plot.
