Junior Olympic International Division Results
(Lake Buena Vista, Fla.) - The USA Judo National Junior Olympic Championships concluded on Sunday with competition in the international division at WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort.
Featuring players from Brazil, Netherlands, Great Britain, Barbados, Costa Rica, Peru and the Bahamas, champions were crowned in four age divisions: Intermediate 2 (Born 1997-1998), Juvenile A (Born 1995-1996), Juvenile B (Born 1993-1994) and IJF-Junior (Born 1990 or later).

Junior World Team Named After Trials at WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort
(Lake Buena Vista, Fla.) - For one afternoon, the world of USA Judo focused on one mat with nearly every fan and athlete in the buidpacked in to see fight-offs between the sport's future stars.
The Trials were held in conjunction with the USA Judo National Junior Olympic Championships at WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort. If a player who was the top seed in the IJF-Junior division won his or her weight category, that player would be named to the team.

USA Judo National Junior Olympic Championship Day 1 Results
(Lake Buena Vista, Fla.) - Three hundred and ninety six athletes competed during the first day of the USA Judo National Junior Olympic Championships on Saturday at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort at WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort.
Competition was held for athletes between the ages of 11 and 16 in four weight divisions: Intermediate A (Born 1999-2000), Intermediate B (Born 1997-1998), Juvenile A (Born 1995-1996) and Juvenile B (Born 1993-1994).
Among the gold medalists were six members of the team that will compete at the Cadet World Championships from Aug. 6-9 in Budapest, Hungary who all competed in the Juvenile B division.
Everet Desilets (Providence, R.I. / Mayo Quanchi Judo Club) won the 60kg division, defeating Brice Calli (Fort Worth, Texas / Ruben Martin Judo) and Conner Murtha (Boulder, Colo. / Boulder Judo Training Center), a 2009 Senior Pan Am Team member who competed in the 55kg division before moving up in April. Junior World Championship Trials to be Held at WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort on Saturday
The road to Olympic and World Championship gold frequently begins for most judo players years before the Games at the Junior World Championships where most of the top senior players get their first taste of international glory, including more than a third of the 2008 Olympic medalists who were former Junior World medalists in the years before.
The pinnacle of competition for athletes ages 19 and younger, the Junior World Championships is now held annually with players competing in eight men's and women's weight divisions.

Nearly 700 Athletes Scheduled to Compete at USA Judo National Junior Olympic Championships
Nearly 700 junior athletes, ages 6-19-years-old are expected to compete at the USA Judo National Junior Olympic Championships at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort at WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort from July 24-26 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Athletes from throughout the United States, including players from as far away as Alaska and Hawaii, will be competing in eight age divisions with more than 100 athletes expected to fight in the IJF-Junior (under-20) division to vie for berths on the 2009 Junior World Championships Team that will compete in Athens, Greece from Oct. 22-25.

USA Judo National Junior Olympic Championships Entry Packets Now Available

USA Judo is pleased to announce that entry packets are now available for both the domestic and international divisions of the 2009 USA Judo National Junior Olympic Championships which will be held July 24-26 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort near Orlando, Fla.
The domestic competition will be held July 24-25 for athletes born between 1990 and 2003.
Athletes are encouraged to stay for the international competition on July 26 where they will get to compete against players from North and South America. The USA Judo National Junior Olympic Championships is a USA Judo Junor Point Tournament for athletes in the Intermediate, Juvenile and IJF-Junior divisions. Athletes who win a gold medal will receive 10 points on the appropriate Junior Elite National Roster. Silver medalists receive six points and bronze medalists receive four points.
Don't forget... the Junior Olympics also will serve as the Junior World Trials for athletes competing in the IJF-Junior (Born 1990 or Later) division with the winners going on to fight for the gold at the 2009 Junior World Championships, Oct. 22-25 in Athens, Greece.
