Judo is one of only two martial sports that are part of the Olympic Games. In 1964, men's judo made its debut at the Tokyo Games.Women's judo became a full-medal event at the Barcelona Games in 1992. As the recognized National Governing Body for judo by the United States Olympic Committee, USA Judo is responsible for the development, support and selection of the USA Olympic Teams.
As part of the development program, USA Judo holds National Championships every year for Juniors, Emerging Elites, Collegiate/High School and Seniors. USA Judo also hosts other international competitions such as the U.S. Open.
USA Judo is growing grassroots development programs in the United States by joining forces with youth-oriented agencies. Judo is a martial art that can be a life-long sport for all!
